We retrace the footsteps of ancient peoples from heart of Cairo, through oases of the Western desert, and to back to the nile towns of upper Egypt. For those wanting more, we then travel through Jordan's citadels, float on the Dead Sea, and live with Beduin nomads under the desert stars.
Egypt is the home of long deceased Pharaohs, ancient Kingdoms, and annals of history that eclipse generations. Our core week takes us from the Great Pyramids to hectic Cairo, then way out into the desert to explore the oasis towns around Dakhla, where we visit local families, and learn more about Egypt's culture. We continue south to descend into the burial chambers of the Pharaohs and wander amongst majestic temple ruins in Luxor, where we sail the Nile before returning to Cairo.
For the peripheral week, we travel to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan where we explore this intersection of several thousand years of human history. We start in Amman before continuing south to float in the Dead Sea. From there, we explore the ancient Nabataean capital of Petra, a city carved out of pink stone cliffs. We take 4x4s into the desert at Wadi Rum to live with Beduin nomads under the stars before checking out the village of Dana and making our way back to Amman.
