We travel to remote Rurutu Island in French Polynesia to swim with humpback whales in the pristine waters of the South Pacific. Rurutu is surrounded by a fringing reef, attracting many nursing whales during the annual humpback migration from Antarctica. While on the island, we stay with a traditional Rurutuan family and share meals with them.
Led by a professional photographer, this expedition takes us into the deserts, ancient cities, a national biosphere reserve, and deep wadis (canyons) of Jordan for a photographic journey that is both geared towards skills learning, cultural exchange, and authentic adventuring.
This camping, trekking and jeep expedition will take us all around Socotra. Starting from Lahore in the Punjb heartland, we venture through the bazaar town of Peshawar up to Chitral to celebrate the Kalash new year holiday of Chawmos. The Kalash people still practice an ancient religion and have maintained their traditions. We travel through the spectacular northern valleys, staying in homestays and exploring Pakistan’s giant Hindukush and Karakoram peaks.
Nestled at the cross-roads between south, central and west Asia, Afghanistan is a mixing grounds of cultures and traditions. Politically fragile, and is now in a state of recovery, the country still teeter-totters on insecurity. We will discover the country’s more open regions during the Eid al Fitr celebrations, and set the groundwork for continued exploration and engagement.
There’s off-the-beaten-path, and then there’s this expedition. We head deep into Sumatra’s Gunung Leuser National Park, travelling into the rainforest by foot and raft, in order to reach a land where few humans have set foot before-- the last home of the critically endangered Sumatran rhino, tiger, elephant and orangutan.
