DAY 1 :: SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 23, 2018 :: ARRIVE IN REYKJAVIK, TRANSFER TO VIK

Today the group will meet in Reykjavik and will head off together to the town of Vik on the south coast. We will organize a group meeting in the afternoon, so for those who are arriving earlier in the day, this is your chance to head into downtown Reykjavik to explore Iceland's capital.

DAY 2 :: MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 24, 2018 :: VIK / HOF

Today we will explore some of Iceland's most spectacular waterfalls. Using Vik as our base, we will visit  Seljalandsfoss, Gljufrabui, and Skokafoss, hiking around as we explore these incredible natural wonders in the crisp Icelandic Fall. We'll spend the afternoon venturing around the southern beaches, looking for puffins and hitting up the iconic Solheimasandur plane crash site. In the late afternoon, we'll drive to the Hof area where we'll check into our guesthouse for the next several days of exploring southeast Iceland.

DAY 3-5 :: TUESDAY-THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 25-27, 2018 :: VATNAJÖKULL TO THORSMORK

Over the next three days we will take in some of the best activities and natural places southeast Iceland has to offer.  We'll go on a glacier hike with crampons and spikes across Myrdalsjökull, take a boat around the ice lagoon at  Jokulsarlon, go iceberg spotting from the black sand diamond beach, off-road and hike around Vatnajokull National Park, wander the deep green valleys at Thorsmork, uncover secret hot springs, and truly soak in this absolutely spectacular corner of Iceland. In the evenings we'll chance the aurora borealis overhead, as late September is one of the best times to catch active auroral activity.

DAY 6 :: FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 28, 2018 :: VIK / REYKJAVIK

We'll have a leisurely morning before checking out of our guesthouse and heading to Reykjavik for our last evening in Iceland. We'll have a group dinner and spend the night at a guesthouse outside Reykjavik.

DAY 7 :: SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 29, 2018 :: DEPARTURES FROM REYKJAVIK (OR CONTINUE TO GREENLAND)

There are no scheduled activities today and participants may depart at any time. For those continuing on to Greenland, we will depart from Reykjavik City Airport in the morning.
