SOUTHERN ICELAND

DESCRIPTION

Autumn in the Arctic is spectacular. This road trip brings us to Iceland's incredible south coast to explore glaciers and waterfalls, quiet hot springs and volcanic beaches. If we're lucky we'll catch the aurora dancing overhead in the evenings.

 SEPTEMBER 23-29

LAND COST: $2,500

GROUP SIZE: 12 MAX

RUGGED RATING: 4/10

OVERVIEW

The land of fire and ice is greener that one would guess. Iceland is extreme: blue glaciers crawl down mountain valleys, waterfalls pour over verdant cliffs, puffins perch along the shoreline, the northern lights shine overhead, and lagoons teem with crystal clear ice bergs. We explore hidden locations all over Iceland's south shore, climb glaciers, and marvel at the power of nature while learning about this enchanting island.

This trek takes an in-depth look at the natural wonders of southern Iceland. We travel by car and 4x4 jeeps to access some of the most remarkable landscapes in the world. We hike on top of glaciers with crampons, marvel at ice bergs washed up on volcanic black sand beaches, explore the deep green valleys in Thorsmork and hunt down hidden hot springs on this thermal arctic island. Throughout the trip we will be hosting photography classes to teach you how to best capture this incredible landscape in all different lighting conditions. While participation in these lessons is by no means necessary, we welcome all interested in upping their photography game, because Iceland is one epic location to shoot.

"It was phenomenal! Words can never express how much this experience means to me. The best trip I’ve ever taken. I had the pleasure to meet a group of people who all put a smile to my face. I look back and realize that this trip surrounded me with people and experiences that only boosted the quality of my life. I wouldn’t change one thing about it."

"The places we visited and experiences we had were unique, and things I never would have planned on my own. But it was the people we met who made the trip life-changing. I've traveled with groups before and met some wonderful people, but the leaders on this trip truly made us feel like a family."

"Little did I know this trip would be a life-changing experience... Something else I did not expect was building life-long friendships.  There were 16 of us from all over the world in the group, and the connections we made were all genuine.  In our 11 days together, we discovered one another’s life stories, struggles, bathroom habits, quirks and everything in between.  And guess what? We still like each other, because our group chat is still going strong."
