ITINERARY

DAY 1 :: WEDENSDAY, APRIL 25, 2018 :: ARRIVE IN SORONG, TRANSFER TO THE "SHAKTI"

Today participants will arrive in Sorong, one of the largest towns in West Papua, Indonesia (direct flights are available from Jakarta) and transfer to our boat "Shakti."

Shakti is a 32-metre traditional Indonesian phinisi and is the most experienced boat in Raja Ampat, offering unparalleled possibilities to discover an Indonesian island paradise. Shakti has more
experience and knowledge of these seas than other operators, with two decades of operational history. The team’s knowledge about the area; its culture, people, mystical stories and marine life is outstanding and unparalleled. In recognition, Shakti has been used by television crew such as the BBC’s Planet Earth team as a base for producing nature documentaries.

Completely renovated in 2016, Shakti’s interior has been specifically designed to accommodate 10 guests in comfort meeting all the standards and needs of discerning travellers. Each of the spacious cabins have individually controlled air conditioning and electricity 24 hours a day as well as en suite bathrooms.

DAY 2-9 :: APRIL 26 TO MAY 3, 2018 :: CRUISING THE RAJA AMPAT ISLANDS

The best way to explore this remote marine environment off West Papua’s Bird’s Head Peninsula is on board a traditional phinisi schooner. There are over 700 islands to explore and a myriad reefs and coral cays. Even after years of exploring, new sites and even new endemic species are continually being discovered. Raja Ampat offers a whole diversity of shallow water experiences-- barrier reefs, mangroves, walls, fringing reefs, shallow pinnacles, caves, lagoons and channels; each has its unique inhabitants and qualities.

The seas around Raja Ampat are the most biodiverse on the planet; above the water the landscapes are awe-inspiring and the wildlife is prolific. Come diving, snorkeling, bird or whale watching, explore ancient rock art, untouched forests and beaches, village trekking, and marvel at the glory of this wonderland aboard Shakti.

Three dives are organized per day with one optional night dive as well.

DAY 10 :: FRIDAY, MAY 4, 2018 :: RAJA AMPAT ISLANDS - SORONG (DEPART)

Today we will return to port in Sorong and will arrange transportation to the airport for those guests flying out today (time to be announced). For those looking to spend the night in Sorong and depart the following day, we will provide accommodation suggestions and booking services.
