THE INERTIA GUIDE TO AFGHANISTAN

Welcome to Afghanistan. It’s one of the most diverse, stunning, fought over pieces of land in Asia, and lies at the crossroads of Persian, Arabic, Central Asian, and Subcontinental cultures. On the flip side, every foreign government strongly advises against travel to Afghanistan— invasions, war, insurgency, political instability, terrorism, and a Taliban problem have made things difficult in Afghanistan since the 1970s. However, Afghanistan used to receive hundreds of thousands of tourists on the “hippy trail” from Europe to India in the 1960s. The country is stunning, culturally colourful, architecturally mesmerizing, and what you can learn from the stories and experience of the people of Afghanistan can be life changing. So, can you really visit? Is Afghanistan safe for tourism? What can be done? We’ve been working to help grow tourism from its infancy in Afghanistan and are excited to offer experiences in this new travel frontier.
