The Longest Train Ride in North Korea: Pyongyang to Russia

THE LONGEST TRAIN RIDE IN NORTH KOREA— PYONGYANG TO RUSSIA

In February 2019 we got the chance to take the train from Pyongyang to the Russian city of Ussuriysk. The journey from Pyongyang to the Rason Special Economic Zone on the border between the DPRK and Russia took 32 hours, travelling through much of the centre and eastern coastline of the DPRK.

This short video shows Inertia Network Co-founder Matt Reichel and our partner in the DPRK Han Ju Hak travelling together on this journey. Throughout the trip, Ju Hak meets relatives who have not seen him since he was a baby. Matt and Ju Hak have worked together for 11 years and are great friends; this little trip gave them an opportunity to relax, bond, and take things slowly as the train gently rolls through the countryside towards Russia.
